Arundhati Roy: The Doctor and the Saint

Well, two days ago was Ambedkar Jayanti here in India. For those of you who do not know, this is a festival celebrated to commemorate the memory of the Dr. B. R. Ambedkar. On the 14th of April, 1891, this great man was born in a Mahar family. Mahars were of the lower castes, untouchables. Having seen the horrors of this caste system and how the lower castes were oppressed by the upper castes, he struggled all his life to annihilate the caste system.
All over the world, people sing praises of the great Mahatma Gandhi. We hardly hear about his intellectual, political, and moral rival.
Arundhati Roy, a well known political activist from India gave this brilliant talk titled ‘The Doctor and the Saint’. The Doctor, referring to Ambedkar, and the Saint, referring to Gandhi.

I believe this is a must watch for all.
